ELEMENTS OF RECONCILIATION

  1. RECOGNITION: Acknowledging the need for reconciliation regarding gender issues.

  2. CONFESSION/REPENTANCE/FORGIVENESS/HEALING: For both genders, confessing one’s own unjust actions, attitudes, or responses regarding gender matters to God and, where appropriate, to others. Asking for forgiveness, extending it to others. If needed, receiving healing prayer/counseling.

  3. SENSITIVITY & COMMITMENT: Acquiring knowledge in order to relate with greater sensitivity and empathy regarding gender issues. Choosing to recognize that each person brings God-given gifts to a situation and is of equal worth in God’s eyes.

  4. RESTITUTION: Attempting to restore that which has been damaged or destroyed. Seeking justice where we have the power to act.
